Animal Driver
A wagon-driver has Teamster. A member of a caravan using pack animals rather than vehicles has Packing.

Archer
Archers serve in the army as light infantry.

Armorer
Arms and armor production was a highly skilled, well-paid trade concentrated in cities and towns.
Prerequisites: ST 11; Armoury (Body Armor, Melee Weapons, Missile Weapons, or Small Arms) -14; Jeweler-11.

Artisan
Prerequisites: Any craft skill at 12+.

Assassin
Prerequisites: Stealth 12+ and a weapon skill at 12+.
Job Roll: Worst prerequisite skill-1. On critical failure, wanted by the authorities.
Monthly Pay: $200 x worst prerequisite skill. Adjusted for margin of success or failure.
Bandit
A bandit’s income depends on his finding victims worth robbing; it fluctuates a great deal.
Prerequisites: Riding 12+; weapon skill 12+.

Monthly Pay: $600. Adjusted for margin of success or failure.
Barmaid
Barmaids fetch drinks for tavern customers, clean empty tables, and sometimes work in the kitchen, but their real job is influencing the customers to spend more and come back. Much of their income is in tips.
Prerequisites: Savoir-Faire (Servant) 11+ or Sex Appeal 11+.

Beggar
Prerequisites: Panhandling at 12+.

Bounty Hunter
Prerequisites: Tracking 12+, Shadowing 12+, and a weapon skill at 12+.
Job Roll: Worst prerequisite skill. On critical failure, injured by target, take 2d damage.

Building Laborer
Without powered equipment, builders need a lot of workers with strong backs and some idea of what they’re doing.
Prerequisites: ST 11; Carpentry-10 or Masonry-10.

Wealth Level: Struggling. Supports Status -1.
Bureaucrat
This is a government functionary with at least a bit of power and discretion in how to carry out his job. He may personally employ a few clerks (below) as assistants, but they ultimately work for him, not the government.
Prerequisites: Any three of Administration-14, Diplomacy-14, Law-14, or Writing-14; Native fluency in at least one written language.

Courier
Some messengers run; others ride horse relays.
Prerequisites: Riding (Horse)-14 or both Hiking-12 and Running-12.

Entertainer
Prerequisites: One of Singing, Dancing, Performance, Acrobatics, or Musical Instrument at 13+.
Job Roll: Prerequisite skill-2. On critical failure, the audience throws eggs; you lose the current booking or have to leave town.
Monthly Pay: $50 x prerequisite skill. Adjusted for margin of success or failure.
Farmer
A relatively well-to-do free farmer who owns the land he works and possibly employs a farmhand or two.
Prerequisite: Farming-12.

Fisherman
This is appropriate for a subsistence fisherman or someone who fishes primarily for sale to others.
Prerequisite: Fishing-12.

Freelance Wizard
Prerequisites: A generally useful spell at 14+.
Job Roll: Prerequisite spell. On critical failure, gain a -1 Reputation locally as an incompetent, or roll on Critical Spell Failure Table (p. B236).
Monthly Pay: $250 x prerequisite spell. Adjusted for margin of success or failure.
Gambler
Prerequisites: Gambling and Streetwise at 12+.
Job Roll: Gambling-2. On critical failure, lose everything, or caught cheating.
Monthly Pay: $30 x Gambling skill. Adjusted for margin of success or failure.
Wealth Level: Struggling. Supports Status -1.
Laborer
Prerequisites: ST 11+.
Job Roll: Worst of ST and HT. On critical failure, on-the-job injury, 1d damage, and no income for a month while you heal.
Monthly Pay: $120.
Gatherer
Largely a TL0 job, a few can still make a living on the fringes of high-tech societies by gathering and selling wild resources such as mushrooms, herbs, and small game.
Prerequisites: Area Knowledge-12; Survival (appropriate environment)-12.

Wealth Level: Struggling. Supports Status -1.
Healer
Prerequisites: Physician 14+.

Herdsman
Appropriate Animal Handling specialties include Cattle and Sheep/Goats.
Prerequisite: Animal Handling (herd animals)-12.

Hunter
This is another TL0 job that can survive on the fringes into later eras.
Prerequisites: Tracking-12; Traps or any ranged weapon skill at 12.

Wealth Level: Struggling. Supports Status -1.
Knight Errant
A knight errant has neither his own lands nor a place in a greater nobleman’s household. He travels about, seeking a war to fight in or a quest to
undertake. At best, he may be a saintly hero; at worst, he may be an armed robber – but his sense of honor won’t let him lower himself to physical
labor. In a Japanese setting, a ronin (a masterless samurai) plays a similar role.
Prerequisites: Status 2+, Lance or Sword 12+, and Riding 12+

Monthly Pay: $3,000. Adjusted for margin of success or failure.
Mercenary
Prerequisites: Three combat skills at 14+.
Job Roll: Worst prerequisite skill. On critical failure, 3d damage.
Monthly Pay: $50 x best prerequisite skill.
Miner
This is a relatively unskilled miner, digging up ores and other valuable minerals. Treat a worker in a stone quarry as a building laborer (p. 46); he must be more skilled, because the form in which material is excavated is important.
Prerequisite: ST 12.
Job Roll: ST. On a critical failure, take 2d crushing damage to a random hit location.
Monthly Pay: $370.
Serf/Sharecropper
Many farmers made a living working someone else’s land, giving up a large part of their harvest as tribute or their due to an employer in exchange for that individual’s legal protection. This category includes farmhands and medieval serfs.
Prerequisite: Farming-12.
Job Roll: Farming.
Monthly Pay: $330, adjusted for margin of success or failure.
Servant
A household servant who cleans, cooks, and otherwise looks after an employer and his household.
Prerequisites: Housekeeping-12 or Savoir-Faire (Servant)-12.
Job Roll: Better prerequisite skill.
Monthly Pay: $160.
Smith
A full-time professional smith, making utilitarian metal vessels, hardware (such as hinges), metal tools, etc., but who isn’t involved in the specialized craft of making arms. A smith may have Metallurgy to smelt metal, but many did not.
Prerequisites: ST 11; Smith-12.
Job Roll: Smith.
Monthly Pay: $790, adjusted for margin of success or failure.
Street Thief
Pickpockets, cutpurses, and shoplifters make a somewhat precarious living, at the mercy of their fences. Getting caught can mean anything from a fine to painful death.
Prerequisites: One of Filch-13, Knife-13, or Pickpocket-13; Streetwise-11.
Job Roll: Worst prerequisite. On critical failure, arrested and tried according to local law.
Monthly Pay: $300. Adjusted for margin of success or failure.
